OSCA

Congratulations to Morgan Morris for winning the Player of the Season OSCA for the 2023-24 season!  Morgan now has an unrivalled three player of the season awards & has impressed again all season even amongst his magnificent back row peers at the club.

We can all (well – nearly all) see how he’s been the best number 8 in Wales for the past few years at club level, regularly breaking the gainline and putting in tireless efforts in defence -the stats speak for themselves (source https://theanalyst.com/eu/2024/01/club-rugby-stats-hub/

Its been a season to remember, reaching the playoffs in both the URC and Challenge Cup, winning an unprecedented four out of five games against South African opposition and finishing as the top Welsh team in the URC with several games to spare.

Its been a tough job shortlisting the player of the season OSCA nominees but we’ve narrowed it down to eleven – but for injuries limiting game time in black, white, charcoal, pink and green, there might have been some more extending this list even further.  Sorry if your favourite didn’t make the cut but with a 15 year age range and positions from 1 to 15 represented, there’s someone for everyone here to vote for!

Defying odds of 50 to 1 according to the URC (what do they know), the Ospreys marched into the URC playoffs before our season eventually came to an end against reigning champions Munster.  The team bounced back from a tough game in Dublin against Leinster to take a full 10 points from the remaining Welsh derbies, first at home to Dragons and then wrapping up the regular URC season with an epic Judgement Day performance against Cardiff.

We’ve shortlisted six players for the May-June vote.

‘Played 4, Won 2’ sounds rather average but the performances have been far from it.  April saw our Challenge Cup run end against Gloucester after our first ever European playoff win against Sale Sharks.  The team then returned to URC action and made the significant journey to South Africa to take on the Stormers and the Bulls.  Our South African results this season have yielded an amazing four wins from five and the one blot in the copy book was against 4th placed Bulls to complete April’s fixture list.

We’ve shortlisted five players for the April vote (and on this very rare occasion, there are no front rowers represented!)

A gripping victory over Ulster, as close as you you get  at Edinburgh, heartbreak against champions Munster and a vital five points against the in form Lions.  Four great performances  have lifted us to 7th position in the URC.

There may be some notable omissions, but these five players make our very impressive shortlist for our player of the month vote.

From Alun Wyn Jones to Dewi Lake, from Dan Biggar to Jac Morgan, over 50 Ospreys legends have laid their hands on the coveted OSC Player of the Month award (OSCA).

Launched in 2010, the award, exclusively designed in conjunction with the Grogg Shop in Pontypridd has become synonymous with the OSC. It has long been the envy of supporters and players alike and is simply a money can’t buy piece of Ospreys and OSC history.

If you have a business and would like to become part of the OSCA journey, then we may have an opportunity for you. We are looking for sponsors for the 2024/25 season and can offer a range of benefits.
