2015 Kit Launch Shirts

Ospreys fans gathered at the Liberty stadium to see the players hit the catwalk for the launch of the 2015/16 Kit.

2015 Kit Launch Oh Dear GodIt looks like BLK have hit the mark this year as a select few hit the catwalk, supported by the relieved bulk of the squad who watched alongside supporters from the back of the huge marquee erected for the event.  It’s fair to say that whilst some may have been slightly shy, Matthew Dwyer strutted and vogued in style, much to the surprise of nobody.

Before the launch, the squad played tennis & cricket with some of the younger element of the crowd & the OSC helped host the Ospreys Wheel of Fortune. The main event was hosted by Kevin Johns, entertaining supporters in style as some lucky younger Ospreys fans accompanied players down the catwalk.

The home shirt, modeled by Lloyd Laura Ashley and Dan Pouting Evans sees a return to black which went down very well with the crowd – after all #ourbloodisblack.

After the shirt launch, the club shop was swamped with supporters keen to sort the latest in Ospreylian fashion.  Players hung about in the marquee and shop giving fans the opportunity to collect autographs and pictures.

Here’s some pictures from the day and also the Ospreys ‘behind the scenes’ video.  For more pictures, have a look on our facebook page and the Ospreys website and shop.

Now all we need is some more rugby action!

We received this earlier from Terry Williams from Camborne RFC – it looks like the day was a major success!

“I am writing on behalf of Camborne RFC to thank the Ospreys supporters for the gift of £400 towards a charity held at our club on June 13, organised by Josh Matavesi and his brothers. The object was to raise money for a rehabilitation hospital in Hayle, Cornwall, where Josh’s father is a long term patient.

The total raised for the charity was £17,000, and our bar take was £20,000 and the club made a further £5000 profit on the day. I thought I would pass this on as you were kind enough to support us on the day. There was a crowd of 3000.

Many thanks and good luck for the coming season.

Terry Williams

With the Rugby World Cup approaching and ITV having exclusive broadcast rights, you’ve got to be curious of the quality of coverage that will grace our television screens.

However, ITV have named a really strong lineup:

Laawrence Dallaglio, Jonny Wilkinson, Sir Clive Woodward, Jason Robinson, Gareth Thomas, George Gregan, BOD, Sir Ian McGeechan, Fancois Piennar, Sean Fitzpatrick, Michael Lynagh, David Flatman & Maggie Alphonsi

BMcLNobody will ever compare the late, great Bill McLaren who’s prose lit up the rugby world, but this is a chance for you to vote for your favourite TV pundit currently gracing our screens.

If you’re torn and can’t pick just one, you can vote for up to 5 pundits.

Voting closes at the end of the June and the winner will receive a Liberty Stadium Pie from the OSC committee on their next visit to the Riverside Bar.  The lowest polling pundit will receive TWO Liberty Stadium Pies if they ever dare to come and see us.

Thanks for your vote

Matavesi XV cheque presentationA few of the OSC made the long journey to Camborne to support a fundraising day organised by Sireli Matavesi’s family.  It gave our chairman, Nigel Jones the opportunity to present a cheque for £400 to Josh & his brothers.

We would like to thank the Ospreys and Glasgow Warriors supporters who bought tickets for the charity raffle carried out in the Riverside Bar after our last home game of the season.

Details of the event can be found at the Matavesi XV v Camborne RFC facebook page. Further details of the day can be found on the Cornish Rugby Updates facebook photo album.

The game also remembered the sad passing of the great Jerry Collins & his wife Alana Madill.

A minute’s silence was held before kickoff and a few travelling Ospreys supporters showed their respect by wearing Ospreys shirts from JC’s time with the team marked “COLLINS 6”.

Jerry Collins 1980-2015

Jerry Collins 1980-2015

We were all shocked and deeply saddened to hear the passing of ex-Osprey and All Black legend Jerry Collins together with his wife Alana early this morning.

We’re sure we can speak on behalf of all Ospreys supporters, when we say that he will be truly missed. His physicality and edge made him the back row enforcer that everyone – both his peers and opponents, came to respect. Not only on the international stage, but also when he proudly pulled on the shirt of the Ospreys.

Jerry was at the heart of the Ospreys squad at the height of the so-called ‘Galactico’ era. The back row dominance of Collins, Holah and Jones culminated in us winning the Magners League title in 2010. He was also a prominent figure during our 2009/10 Heineken Cup campaign, with an almighty performance against Biarritz in San Sebastian during the Quarter Finals.

From a Supporters’ Club perspective, Jerry was always very supportive of the OSC. He always gave his time to talk to supporters, and had a great sense of humour. From browsing social media this morning, it’s evident to see how Jerry made an impact in so many peoples lives, not just with supporters, but with his young team mates too.

He may have only been in Ospreylia for a short period of time, but his legacy will live long for many years to come.

Once an Osprey, Always an Osprey

RIP Jerry and Alana.

The Ospreys’ season is finally over after an amazing winning streak was finally ended by Munster (after Nigel Owens consulted TV footage and ruled out Josh Matavesi’s [almost] match winning try that silenced the Thomond Park crowd).  But like this year’s [premature] league sponsors, we’re not bitter!
